Ian Hudghton MEP today delivered evidence on the European Commission's 'Work Programme for 2013' to the Scottish Parliament's influential European and External Affairs Committee.
The SNP MEP discussed the Commission Work Programme for 2013 detailing the overarching aims in a number of legislative areas with specific interest to Scotland. Following the presentation Mr Hudghton participated in a Question and Answer session with the MSPs present at the Committee meeting, giving opinions on a vast number of issues currently under discussion in the European Parliament such as the EU Budget for 2013, the reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy and Common Fisheries Policy and broadband services in Scotland.
Commenting following the Evidence Session Ian Hudghton said,
"I am very happy to have been asked to deliver evidence on the Commission Work Programme for 2013 with colleagues at the Scottish Parliament. It is essential and important for MEPs to keep a close working contact with the Scottish Parliament to help discuss issues of importance in both Parliaments so as to ensure the best possible results for the people of Scotland.
"I discussed a number of interesting topics with the cross party committee of MSPs and look forward to further meetings, which will be mutually beneficial to activities in both Brussels and Edinburgh."
