SNP MEP Ian Hudghton has been re-elected as President of the Scottish National Party at its recent Annual Conference in Inverness. Ian Hudghton succeeded Winnie Ewing as SNP President in 2005, and has now been re-elected for the fourth successive time.

Mr. Hudghton will this year complete eleven years service as an SNP Member of the European Parliament, and has been a very active member of the Party for more than 40 years.

Commenting Mr. Hudghton said:

"This is an exciting time to be involved in Scottish politics and I am delighted to have been re-elected to serve as President of the SNP. With the SNP Government demonstrating how much can be done with the limited powers of devolution, and with an opportunity soon to be provided to the people of Scotland to choose how their country could progress towards independence, I will be continuing to campaign on the doorsteps for a YES vote in a referendum."
