Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) I congratulate my colleague Mr Maragall on this report. I am however disappointed that his amendment supporting the languages used in each country’s education system did not pass. Education in Europe is provided through mediums which go well beyond the EU’s official languages and this reality should be recognised within Erasmus. It is ironic that on a day this House voted to promote an ‘EU aspect’ in education systems, it voted to deny the rights of speakers of Scots, Gaelic, Welsh and Catalan.
