Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) - Whilst I accept that the rapporteur has written her report with the best of intentions, I voted for the alternative resolution. The alternative text clearly sets out those areas where EU countries must cooperate to break the illegal sex trade. It also highlights the total unacceptability of forced prostitution and child prostitution. Nevertheless, enforcement of laws relating to the sex trade are a Member State competence and it is not appropriate for this House to seek to issue decrees in this matter.
