Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) – This report has much to commend it. Nevertheless, the stated belief that a centralised common fisheries policy can bring about improvements to marine biodiversity and increase our natural capital is wholly misguided. The failure of the CFP to achieve its objectives is widely recognised, and yet the wording of this report ignores that reality. I could not vote in favour of the final report for that reason.
