Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) - The Commission's communication on a raw materials received sharp criticism from a large number of NGOs and individuals working in international development. Colleagues in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy have acknowledged this and produced a report which is more respectful of other countries as well as the environment. The report rightly states that 'countries' resource sovereignty must be respected', a sentiment which lies at the very heart of my own political philosophy.
