Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) - The issues in this report are complex, given that certain Member States, including the United Kingdom, participate only in certain parts of the Schengen aquis. The UK position is further complicated by the fact that security and justice issues operate within independent legal systems governed by separate parliaments and governments. The Scottish Government takes an active role in the implementation of the Schengen aquis in Scots law and I was able to support this report.
