The European COPD Coalition raised awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease by hosting a stall in the European Parliament, on World COPD Day 2014.
COPD is a progressive lung disease that makes it difficult for the sufferer to breathe, and is thought to affect up to 10% of European adults. COPD is not curable, and the sufferer experiences increasingly difficult health problems over time.
Commenting Ian Hudghton MEP said,
"It is thought that 2% of Scotland's population live with COPD. I believe it is important that greater awareness is made of COPD, as although there is no cure, the disease is highly preventable."
SNP Conference Hosts EFA Event
Saturday, 15th November 2014
Ian Hudghton MEP today hosted a very well attended fringe meeting of the SNP Conference held in Perth, featuring representatives of the European Free Alliance - the European political party to which the SNP is affiliated.
EFA Party President Francois Alfonsi (Corsica), Jordi Solé (Catalonia) and Lorena Lopez de Lacalla (Basque Country) delivered accounts of the political situation in their respective countries as well as discussing the recent Scottish referendum on independence. The panel then answered a number of questions from the audience continuing the topical discussion.
Ian Hudghton MEP said following the event,
"The audience were very interested to hear today how the Scottish referendum was viewed by our friends across Europe, and about similar journeys towards greater autonomy across the continent. I am thankful to our visitors for coming to Perth and engaging the crowd in a very informative discussion."
